Feng Shui For Business
When Louise Clarkson and her husband bought in 2002, a massage center in the East Village, it had some problems: The community had a misconception about the center and massage in general. To put it mildly, the massage was not viewed as a viable alternative to physical care, it was more a preventive or relaxation element.
In fact the center had never really prospered with the previous owner since it opened nine years before, Louise recalls. Using his knowledge of sale and marketing Louise’s husband created more of a corporate image that clearly differed from the traditional idea of what a massage center should be like. Interestingly, this together with the good PR work they managed a significant increase in customers, but were still lacking a real buzz.
A friend of theirs had mentioned an ancient Chinese method to enhance the energies in an environment called Feng Shui and they decided to give it a try. Louise called a New York feng shui designer and consultant, Will LeStrange, who analyzed the center. He suggested some very practical solutions such as changing some of the furniture and placing a new business sign on the street. He also recommended the placing of mirrors on different walls of the main hallway.
Although most of the suggestions seemed logical, there were others that seemed less so. The immediate results were amazing. Our customers immediately noticed a difference and started asking what had been done to bring about such a transformation…. they felt much better about the place.
The increase in the business’s performance has been amazing. In fact, the following year saw profits double. And as for their acceptance in the community… they can say is total. Luisa's story is by no means an isolated case. Almost half the world is discovering how this ancient Chinese philosophy can solve a multitude of personal and professional problems.
